Ping has spaced the grooves closer together as well as creating sharper edges to increase spin and friction (in Ping's testing up to 400 RPM's). This will give you perfect distance control and well as creating a more consistent trajectory on full swing shots so you can dial in on tight pins. They have created 4 grinds of which each has been specifically crafted for excellent surface interaction and versatility in bunkers and around the green.
